Hand (Handfeel) |
The way a fabric feels in the hands or to the touch: soft, harsh, stiff, silky, bouncy, dead, etc. This is an important aspect in the selection of fabric for both design and production. Fabric can be rejected for production if it is not to the standard of the original or specified “hand.” |
Hand Loom |
A hand woven textile following a customer’s design and used to approve colors and construction. Often used to “preview” a design with merchandisers and buyers. More and more replaced by computer-generated printed facsimiles. |
